Nerds On Film
I love how computers and the nerds who use them are portrayed in spy drama TV series and movies!
Our show’s hero, a fit FBI agent, walks into a windowless computer room with a hurried demeanor. He or she has no time for even a terse greeting with the room’s occupant. The agent asks the occupant to find something or someone in the system, quickly! The computer genius wipes off his/her cheetoh fingers and types on the keyboard for about 923 milliseconds. The computer makes beep bop boop sounds reminiscent of R2D2. Head shots of people float by on the HUGE screen while the boop sounds continue to let us know that R2 is still aggregating the Akashic record. Suddenly, the hacker states, “I think I found something.” The screen renders a result, character by character, as if the AI ghost inside was also using a keyboard. Our hero takes a picture of the screen, thanks the dorky associate for his/her sub-second exertion, and bolts through the frame of a very heavy exit door. The hacker shouts, “Let me know if you need anything else!” while cheetoh dust sprays from his/her mouth. The door closes while our sun-starved brainiac quietly utters, “Maybe a cup of coffee sometime?” Pan to the shutting door, as it becomes a metaphorical tombstone for the social life of our subterranean tech guru.
